Chanderpaul spearheads Derbyshire’s reply against Hampshire

DERBY, England, CMC – Veteran West Indies batsman Shiv Chanderpaul was helping to spearhead Derbyshire’s search for first innings lead, at the close of the second day of their County Championship game against Hampshire here yesterday.

The left-hander was unbeaten on 35 as the hosts finished on 203 for two, in response to Hampshire’s first innings of 328 all out.

Experienced opener Stephen Moore was at the centre of Derbyshire’s solid performance, stroking an unbeaten 106, off 192 balls in four hours at the crease.

Moore has added 93 in an unbroken third wicket stand with Chanderpaul who faced 65 balls in nearly 1-1/2 hours in the middle.

Chanderpaul has been in excellent form, gathering half-centuries in his three innings in the County season so far.
