Marian Academy successfully defend city conference title

Marian Academy successfully defended their City Conference (Georgetown) title, defeating the Bishops High in their under-19 match up by a 37-27 score when the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) Regional Conference concluded on Friday.
Marian’s Judah Stephney, who was adjudged to be the conference’s most valuable player (MVP) led the Carifesta Avenue unit with a double-double of 12 points, 13 rebounds and five steals.

In the East Coast Conference (ECC), the University of Guyana defeated President’s College 64-54 in their under-19 encounter. Conference MVP Jonathan Pooran led the way for the Turkeyen outfit with figures of 22 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Kwakwani Secondary blew out Mackenzie High by a 59-20 score line to clinch the Big Ten (Region 10) conference title. Stanton Rose led the winners with 14 points and six rebounds. He also grabbed five assists and five steals in a MVP awarded performance.

In the Ancient County Conference (ACC), New Amsterdam Multilateral brushed aside JC Chandisingh Secondary 46-38. Ramone Fogenay, who was adjudged to be the conference’s MVP, led the winners with 12 points, eight rebounds, four steals and as many assists.

The finals were held at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Homestretch Avenue.
