GCB announces U-15, U-19 squads

The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has announced its Under-15 and Under-19 squads to compete in this year’s Regional Tournament and noted that all the players will be encamped at its hostel at La Bonne Intention.

The squads are under preparation for the tournament set for July 20 and 22, a press release said. While they are being encamped simultaneously, training for the U-15 players will start today and end on Tuesday while training for the U-19 group will start tomorrow and will run until Thursday. The U-15 squad will gather at the hostel at 10am today while the U-19 players must assemble there at 5pm tomorrow.

Bhaskar Yadram who is in his second year at this level, will lead the national U-15 team while wicket keeper batsman Joshua Persaud will serve as his deputy. The squad also includes two returning players, spinners Ashmead Nedd and Sagar Hathiramani.

In pursuit of its second title (first since 1998), the U-15 squad which is set to travel to Jamaica reads Yadram (captain), Persaud (Vice Captain/W/k), Nedd, Hathiramani, Kevin Sinclair, Christopher Campbell, Alphius Bookie, Kurt Lovell, Steve Deonarine, Orlando Jailall, Stephen Kamaladeen, Colin Barlow, Bhojnarine Singh and Kris Ramnarine.

Andy Ramnarine will manage the team with Julian Moore as coach. Standby players are Junior Philips, Mark Ramsammy, Robin Williams and Khemchand Hardyal.

Meanwhile the U-19 team which includes two West Indies Under-19 players (Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Shimron Hetmyer) also includes Kemol Savory, Sharaz Ramcharran, Brian Nicholas Sattaur, Keemo Mandela Angus Paul, Keon Akil Morris, Balchan Baldeo, Daniel Basdeo, Steven Sankar, Akel Mortimer Wallace, Nial Smith, Dimon Waldron and Askay Homraj.

The manager is David Black and coach, Adrian Amsterdam. The standby players are David Latchaya, Avanash Persaud, Ronaldo Ali-Mohamed and Shivindra Hemraj. A captain has not been named for the squad.
