KINGSTON, Jamaica, , CMC – Opener Chrystian Thurton struck a stroke-filled hundred – the first of the tournament – to propel defending champions Trinidad and Tobago to their second straight win of the Regional Under-15 Championship here Thursday.
Playing at Elletson Road, Thurton unveiled a magnificent 152 as T&T marched to a commanding 209-run victory over Leeward Islands in the second round of the tournament.
He counted 18 fours and one six off 141 balls to spur T&T to a hefty 321 for six off their 50 overs, with Navin Bedaisee scoring 50 off 72 balls. The pair put on 151 for the opening stand before Thurton added a further 110 for the fifth wicket with Brandon Singh who struck 59.
Leewards, stymied by injuries to their lineup, closed at 112 for seven in 30.2 overs with three of their players unable to take the crease.
They got a top score of 46 from Joshua Grant but he was the only batsman to reach 20.
At Melbourne, Alphius Bookie starred with the bat and Kevin Sinclair with the ball, to steer Guyana to a 46-run win over Barbados.
Bookie hit 64 to help Guyana up to 227 for seven from their overs, and Sinclar then snapped up four for 38 to peg back Barbados and restrict them to 181 for eight.
Shian Brathwaite led Barbados with 45 while Nico Reifer chipped in with 36 to follow up his earlier two-wicket haul.
At Kensington Park, Dominic Samuels narrowly missed out on a hundred as Wiindward Islands beat Jamaica by three wickets.
Jamaica posted a challenging 255 for seven from their 50 overs, with Samuels cracking three fours and five sixes in an unbeaten 90 from 58 balls and Raewin Senior slamming eight fours in 64 from 85 balls.
They shared 115 for the fourth wicket to pull the Jamaican innings around from 77 for three.
However, Dane Edwards hammered a top score of 75 and Johann Jeremiah, 47, as the Windwards cruised to their target with three balls to spare.
