Recently formed female football club Demerara Queens FC of Linden, claimed their first competitive victory defeating Little DIVA Flames FC of Georgetown by a 2-1 margin on July 19 at the Bayrock ground in Linden.
Sherlyn Kingston opened the scoring for the winners following a goal-less opening half with a 48th minute strike. Abiose Heywood would level the score for the Georgetown unit as she found the back of the net in the 55th minute through a penalty kick.
However, Kingston scored the winning goal for the home side, completing her second half double compliments of a 58th minute attempt. The return fixture of the matchup is slated for Friday at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground, Bourda from 14:00hrs.
