Bodybuilding fans, male and female are in for a special treat tonight at the Theatre Guild where the Senior National Championships will be staged.
The cream of the nation’s musclemen showcasing rippling abdominals, well-defined quadriceps, sculpted arms and barn door backs will be on display as they battle for supremacy and the Mr. Guyana tag.
The women too will be on display clad in their brightly coloured one and two-piece bathing suits.
There will also be a Men’s Physique exhibition as an appetizer to the main course.
This year’s event is a must see since many of the athletes are seasoned and have competed in many shows before.
When interviewed, the gladiators promised to bring their ‘A’ game to the stage.
A thrilling night is envisioned.
The masses of striated muscles will be placed in the four standard categories, namely: bantamweight, lightweight, middleweight and heavyweight and a category for women called the ‘female figure’ category.
The Women’s Fitness category will based more on being toned with proper symmetry as opposed to being ripped with muscles.
There will also be a male guest poser, Suriname’s Koese Soepe who arrived in Guyana yesterday.
Notable names that will be onstage include reigning and defending Mr. Guyana, Kerwin ‘Chisel’ Clarke, former Mr. Guyana, Clint Duke, double CAC gold medalist and 2012 Mr. Guyana, Devon Davis, current Novices champion, Sylvester Andrews, past novices champion, Godfrey Stoby, Tremel King, Owen Jordan, Orlando Dublin and others.
Admission to the venue will cost $1500.
Show time is 19:00 hrs.
