Eagles FC continued their unbeaten group-B run in the Upper Demerara Football Association/Net-Rockers FC Community Cup tournament, overcoming Botofago by a 2-1 margin on Thursday at the Wisburg Secondary School ground.
Jamal Haynes gave Botofago the shock lead as he found the back of the net in the second minute of play. However their lead would be short-lived as Kellon Primo equalized for the eventual winners through a 14th minute effort.
Eagles would then take the lead for the first time in the fixture as Primo completed his double with the go-ahead winner in the 40th minute. Eagles will now faceoff with group-A runners-up Net-Rockers in the semi-final round on Saturday August 30th at the same venue.
Also sealing their berth to the semi-final round as Group-A leaders were Winners Connection. Winners Connection defeated Net-Rockers in their final group match by a 2-1 margin on Wednesday August 27th at the same premises. They will now oppose Botofago in the second match of the final four round.
The grand finale of the event is slated for Sunday 7th September at the Bayroc Community Ground. Sponsors of the event include Caribbean International Distributers Inc.
