Greaves looking to stand on podium in Suriname

On the back of recent sublime form, Roraima Bikers Club cyclist, Alanzo Greaves is hoping that this is the year he stands on the podium in the Bigi Bergi four stage Tour of Suriname.

The national wheelsman has been a consistent performer in the annual event, winning stages and placing as high as fifth overall but a top three spot has been elusive.

Greaves is hoping for better results when the Tour concludes on Sunday.

“I go to the Suriname tour every year but I feel this year I really have a chance of doing well and finishing in the one to three,” the star rider told Stabroek Sport hours before departing yesterday.

“I always win stages and place in stages but I never space in the overall top three. I’m feeling good and feeling strong so hopefully I get good results.”

The grueling tour starts tomorrow.

Along with Greaves, Team Roraima will be represented by Mark Harris and former national rider Enzo Matthews.

A Linden Bauxite Flyers unit along with a Paul DeNobrega led Team Alanis is also scheduled to compete in the annual event.
