Banks DIH/GCA launch U13 cricket tourney

——tournament to be used as foundation to develop skills of young cricketers says Banks DIH Communications Manager Troy Peters

Banks DIH Limited continues to make an impact towards the development of sports in Guyana as the company in collaboration with the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) launched the fourth edition of the Banks DIH/ GCA Under-13 tournament yesterday at the company’s Thirst Park facility.

The tournament, which will be sponsored under the Malta Supreme Brand, will feature eight teams that will compete on weekends at various venues in Georgetown, with the final scheduled for Thirst Park. The eight teams that will be gracing the field when the competition commences Saturday are; Demerara Cricket Club (DCC), Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC), Transport Sports Club (TSC), Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC), Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO), Everest Cricket Club, Diplomats and Bel Air Rubis.

Speaking at the launch, Troy Peters the company’s Communications Manager, said his company has been proud sponsors of the tournament and it is through good organizing that the GCA has been able to retain the company’s support.

The tournament will be played simultaneously with the GCA’s first and second division competition and is being used to develop the talent of young cricketers.

According to Peters the tournament will be used as a foundation to develop the skills of young cricketers, who can elevate to represent Georgetown or even Guyana as was the case on previous occasion.
