One-day football knockout tournament at Cross Street tarmac today

The La Penitence Development Group will today stage a one-day knock-out Street Football tournament at the Cross Street Tarmac from 11:00am.

The event, which is expected to feature the best street football teams around Georgetown, will be contested for over $60,000 in cash and prizes. Registration fee for the tourney is $5,000.

The teams expected to compete are Alexander Village, West Front Road, Tigerbay, Albouystown, Sparta Boss, Back Circle, North East La Penitence, Leopold Street, Stevedore Housing Scheme, Festival City, Sophia, East Ruimveldt, Future and Broad Street.

The winning team will pocket $50,000 and the championship trophy while the second place side will receive $10,000, the second place trophy and one case of stag beer. The third placed side will receive the respective accolade and one case of beer.

On the individual side, the most valuable player will receive $5,000 and a medal while the scorer of the best goal will pocket a medal. Sponsors of the event are Stag Beer, Masiki Projects, Trophy Stall, Bravo Arts, Bermudez Biscuits and Stanley Paul.
