Monedderlust set to defend title

It will be Berbice against the East Coast of Demerara when defending champs Monedderlust Football Club battles Victoria Kings this evening in the final of the Starlite Generation/Monedderlust Football Club second annual Berbice Cup at the No. #5 ground from 20:00hrs.

Keeping their hopes alive of successfully defending title following their 4-1 win over fellow Berbice side Cougars FC, the home side will rely on the likes of the Kenson Lindey, Travis Henry and

Atlyn Brown to power them to victory, come opening whistle.

Made to work in their 4-3 win over East Coast rivals Ann’s Grove, the famous Victoria side will need an inspired performance led by principal hitman Winston Pompey if they are to overcome the home side at the conclusion of the matchup.

The third place playoff will also be played under similar circumstances when Cougars FC oppose Ann’s Grove from 18:00hrs.

Winners of the event will pocket $400,000 and the championship trophy while the runners-up will collect $300,000.

The third and fourth place finishers will walk away with $200,000 and $100,000 respectively. On the individual side, prizes will be awarded for the event’s most valuable player, top goal scorer, best defender and the best goalkeeper.
