Defending Masters champs NY Better Hope wins twice

Cotton Field Wild Oats suffered two losses in the Open category while Masters defending champions NY Better Hope recorded two wins in the Guyana Floodlight Softball Cricket Association (GFSCA) “Guyana Cup 4” tournament which bowled off yesterday at venues across Georgetown.

Defending champs Wild Oats were beaten twice yesterday, first suffering a 13-run loss dished out by the Karibee Boys team then a six-wicket loss to Petamber Enterprise while the ever aggressive Wolf Warriors overcame Dant’s XI by six-wickets after S. Karim struck 64 which they soon followed up with a 4-wicket win over Corriverton thanks to Amit Rai’s 36.

Meanwhile in the Masters category, defending champions NY Better Hope cruised to two straight victories in their more senior leg of the competition. They first disposed of Orlando Florida by 22-runs after K. Tony’s 3-29 and Kawal Tribanie’s 37. The rounded off a good day of cricket when they defeated Parika Defenders by nine runs compliments of K Sanichar (39) and R Rambarose 3 for 23.

The action continues today with matches at the Gandhi Youth Organisation, Eve Leary, Malteenoes, Demerara Cricket Club, Everest, Bourda, Ogle and Muslim Youth Organisation grounds.
