Leon Johnson named skipper of Guyana Jaguars

The national selection panel headed by Rayon Griffith on Saturday named its squad to contest in the opening match of the inaugural franchise first class season which will see Guyana facing the Leeward Islands at Guyana National Stadium from the 14th to 17th November.

The 13 man squad which will play under the name Guyana Jaquars will be led by Leon Johnson while Assad Fudadin will serve as his deputy. The Coach is Esaun Crandon and the Assistant Coach is Rayon Griffith.

Formed batsmen Rajendra Chandrika and Vishal Singh, who scored heavily in the Guyana Cricket Board’s (GCB) senior inter-county four-day tournament also made the squad which includes senior West Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul.

The Guyana team includes seven players who feature at the international level while emerging pacer Ronsford Beaton is the only pacer that was selected in the squad which includes batting all-rounder Christopher Barnwell and former Combined Campuses and Colleges all-rounder Raymond Reifer.
