Persaud, Deonarain reduce Industry Super Kings to mere mortals

Scintillating knocks from opening batsman Richard Persaud and star batsman Ricky Deonarain Friday night propelled Floodlight Softball Team into the semi-finals of the Ramchand/Rohan Auto Spares competition.

Playing against Industry Super Kings, at the Demerara Cricket Club ground Friday night Persaud, 51, Deonarain, an unbeaten 40 and 30 from Imtiaz Mohammed saw Floodlight, batting second overhauling Industry Super Kings‘ score of 140 all but by posting 141-2.

In the second quarter final Mike’s Wellman defeated Bel Air Rubis by the handsome margin of 57 runs to book their spot in the last four.

Mike’s Wellman batting first scored 240 off their allotted 20 overs and then dismissed Bel Air Rubi for 183.

The competition was scheduled to continue last night at the same venue from 6.30pm with Regal Masters opposing Parika Defenders and Farm taking on Young Guns.

The remaining matches will be played today with at the Enterprise Cricket Club ground from 9:30AM with Slingers opposing Fisherman Masters and Uprisers playing Challengers.

And, at the Cyril Potter College ground from 9:30AM Regal will play Herstelling with Wolf Warrior and Brickery Superstars set to clash from 12.30pm.
