Ninvalle congratulated by Wu

Newly elected Executive Committee member of the International Boxing Association (AIBA), Steve Ninvalle, was recently congratulated in a letter by president of the association Ching-Kuo Wu.

The Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) president was elected to the new executive post when the second most powerful sporting organization with 197 affiliates held its congress in Jeju, Korea on November 13.

I would like to extend my sincere congratulations upon your recent election as a member of the AIBA Executive Committee.

This important result is the right recognition for the unshakable devotion to the development of boxing followed by the exceptional results achieved in the past years.

Therefore, I am confident that once again, I congratulate you for this accomplishment and look forward to working with you for the next four years hand to hand with the other members of the

Executive Committee.

When Ninvalle was elected, he became the first person from the English speaking Caribbean to be appointed to the governing body’s executive committee.

This augurs well for the Caribbean as Ninvalle pointed out. “The executive committee of AIBA makes all the decisions concerning amateur boxing for the next four years without having to resort to a congress.

This is like the Cabinet that makes all the decisions, it comprises of 20 persons from different from around the world.

In the aftermath of his historic achievement, Ninvalle told Stabroek Sport that “The Caribbean region is ecstatic about it and they are still celebrating because they are happy that the voice of the Caribbean can be heard in the inner chambers of AIBA.” (Emmerson Campbell)
