EBFA undecided on staging of yearend football tournament

East Bank Football Association (EBFA) President Wayne Francois said only after discussions with his general council following a forum with the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Normalisation Committee will his association decide whether to participate in a sanctioned yearend event or host their own tourney.

Speaking exclusively to Stabroek Sports, Francois said:“We have an invitation letter from the Kashif and Shanghai Organization but we are waiting to meet the Normilisation Committee. After that we will know exactly what we are doing.

“We just want to give the Normalisation Committee a fair input into the yearend tournament. After we meet them we will go back to our constituents to discuss if we will participate in the Kashif and Shanghai or host our own event,” he added. According to the EBFA Chief:“We don’t want to complicate anything, we just want a clear direction as to what should happen for the yearend. Kashif and Shanghai has sent us an invitation but we are waiting. After the meeting we will have a clear direction going ahead even though we have one in the pipeline.”

Asked if his association would automatically be a part of the Kashif and Shanghai event if it is given permission, he said:“If they give the Kashif and Shanghai Organization the permission, we should be participating conditionally in the tournament. At the same time we have some proposals to host own knockout tournament”

“Seeing that the Normalisation Committee has not given permission to any organizer, we don’t know exactly what is happening. After this week we will know,” he said.

Questioned if they would follow the Upper Demerara and West Demerara Football Associations in hosting their own event, if permission is not given to the Kashif and Shanghai Organization by the committee, he said “We will have to know other choice if it comes to that.”
