Cross Street upsets Alexander Village

Cross Street kept their hopes alive of qualifying for the knockout stages, upsetting Alexander Village 2-0 on penalty kicks after normal time finished 1-1 when the Guinness Greatest of the Streets Georgetown edition continued yesterday.

With the scores locked at 1-1 at the end of regulation time at the National Cultural Centre Tarmac, Alexander Village would quickly fall behind as Delon Williams missed their first attempt from the mark, allowing Samuel Hunte to capitalise as he netted from the distance.

Alexander Village would then fail to find the back of the net in the second round of spot kicks as Quincy Bourne failed to hit the target.

With only a goal needed to seal the unlikely win, Ronaldo Dover would spark wild celebrations among the Cross Street supporters as he netted from the mark.

In the earlier moments of the matchup, Alexander Village would take the early lead in the seventh minute through a sublime Shemroy Porter strike.
