Aesthetics, symmetry, muscularity, confidence and of course brightly coloured board shorts will for the first time grace the Flex Night International stage when the fledgling Men’s Physique category is contested on Sunday.
Patrons at the National Cultural Centre can look forward to local hunks posing and flexing their V tapered physiques in a showdown dubbed the ‘Battle of the board shorts’.
The rules of the division state that the judges are looking for “fit contestants who display proper shape and symmetry combined with muscularity and overall condition.” Extreme muscularity is to be marked down.
The keys to victory are simple aesthetics: symmetry, presentation, conditioning without being too vascular, and shredded muscles. Whoever brings it best will win.
Like any new division, it will have some growing pains. The judges will have the unique opportunity this year to set the standard for what they deem the ideal physique in the division.
BodyMaxx’s Emmerson Campbell, Yannick Grimes, Roscoe Blair, Extreme Fitness’ Sean Pearce, Fitness Paradise’s, Rashleigh Bentick, Skeldon Community Centre’s, Farrad Mohamed, Tej Mohall Fitness Centre’s Chaitram Nagessar, Steven Bagot, Roberto Kawall and Mohamad Aslam Madina are some of the known competitors vying for the title of Mr. Flex Night International (Men’s Physique).
Look for the guys to be dialed in, with their V-tapers and their robust stage personality. Everybody wants to win, so you can be sure the whole field will ‘bring their best package’.
On the highly anticipated night, musclemen and women from Guyana as well as neighbouring and regional bodybuilders will compete for cash prizes, trophies and supplement hampers in three other categories.
They are Mr. Flex Night, Ms. Bikini and Ms. Best Legs. According to Director of Flex Night International, Donald Sinclair, in excess of 50 athletes have registered for the show. Action starts at 18:00hrs sharp.
