Softball fraternity set to battle for top honours

As the year nears its end, softball players will have yet another opportunity to stake their claims of supremacy as the Georgetown Softball Cricket League (GSCL) Inc is set to host its inaugural President’s cup open and Over-40 big ball competition this weekend at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and Ogle Community Centre grounds.

On this occasion the participating teams will compete for a first prize of $180,000 in a tourney that is expected to be pulsating. Commencing at the DCC ground tomorrow the teams in the over-40 category will do battle for supremacy while the teams in the open section will journey to Ogle for their rivalry. The finals is set for 10:00h on Sunday at the DCC ground.

In matches slated for the DCC venue, from 10:00h the Regal Masters will challenge Savage on pitch number one as Fishermen XI tackle Mike’s Wellman on pitch number two, with the second set of matches commencing at 13:00h and will see the losers meet on pitch number one, while the winners battle it out on pitch number two.

 

At Ogle, Regal will take on Speedboat in the first game, followed by SPR Enterprise going up against Farm XI in the second contest, with the winners meeting in the finals the following day at DCC.
