Cop crushed to death while fixing road barriers

At  about 0945h. today, the police say that Constable 22349 Eldon Williams of Brickdam Police Station was putting down road barriers along the Providence Access Road, EBD, for an activity today when he was struck down and run over by a motor canter, the driver of which had not complied with signals to reduce speed.

CARICOM calls on Caracas to adjust maritime decree

CARICOM yesterday called on Venezuela to withdraw those elements of its controversial maritime decree that apply to the territory and waters of Guyana and other CARICOM member countries but there was no forthright condemnation which analysts see as a balancing   act due to Caracas’s PetroCaribe fund and other aid facilities.

Greipel wins second stage of Tour de France

ZEELAND, Netherlands, (Reuters) – One year after crashing out of the race, Chris Froome and Alberto Contador were back in control of the Tour de France, hurting their main rivals in a hectic second stage won by German Andre Greipel yesterday.
