GRA further amends Customs import policy

Effective July 20, importers and licensed Customhouse Brokers will be required to submit a third (3rd) copy of their Customs declarations (otherwise known as Form C 72) documents to the Guyana Revenue Authority’s (GRA) Customs Lodging Area, a release from the GRA said today.

$9.7M approved to fast-track passport delivery

Cabinet on Tuesday approved $9.7 million for the procurement of additional equipment for the Guyana passport office in an effort to reduce the waiting time of persons, especially those outside of Guyana, to acquire new passports which at present can take up to five months.

On Tuesday the Success Elementary School hosted its fifth annual prize giving and graduating ceremony at the National Cultural Centre in honour of its performance at the 2015 National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) which resulted in the institution producing the largest of number of students in the top one percent including Solomon Cherai, the country’s top performer.

Tree uprooted in Queenstown crash

Around midday yesterday a passenger travelling in a car heading east on Forshaw Street said the car he was in and another car heading south collided at the intersection with New Garden Street causing the second car to flip over and uproot a tree which later fell on it, with both cars coming to a rest in the positions pictured.

Given his ineffectual performance at the helm of the Ministry of Home Affairs, it would have been wise for former minister Clement Rohee to employ his well-worn coy mode when he was asked about the new government’s controversial initiative to curb the sale of alcohol after 2 am; not that wise was ever an adjective that could be used to describe the former minister or his actions.
