Over 75% of persons diagnosed with cancer not treated

Results from a ten-year surveillance have revealed that 79% of the persons diagnosed with cancer receive no treatment; a fact that should be of major concern to all Guyana, according to Director of Disease Control at the Ministry of Health Dr Morris Edwards who also revealed that the second most affected group is made up of persons between the ages of 15-39.

Granger to seek support in Brazil over Venezuela claim

President David Granger will be attending the Mercosur summit this week in Brasilia but will venture to Brazil one day early to seek support over the ongoing controversy with Venezuela which was exacerbated by two recent maritime decrees from Caracas seeking to appropriate Guyana’s Atlantic waters.

Ferocious storm floods city

Torrential rain pounded Georgetown and the East Coast from yesterday afternoon up until last night swamping large parts of the city and leaving wards like Albouystown in accustomed misery despite two months of massive cleaning of drains spearheaded by the new government.

Woman in Grove apartment died of pneumonia

Eulenea Charles, whose body was found in her home in a decomposing state died as a result of pneumonia and while an autopsy on her baby was inconclusive, it is believed that the infant died as a result of starvation, according to Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum.
