Strong earthquake hits Chile

(Reuters) A magnitude 8.3 earthquake hit off the coast of Chile on Wednesday, shaking buildings in the capital city of Santiago and generating a tsunami warning for Chile, Peru and French Polynesia.

Body recovered from base of Kaieteur Falls

The Kaieteur National Park (KNP) has been re-opened as of today as the body suspected to be of the woman, who had gone missing, was retrieved and transported by plane to Georgetown, today, for a post-mortem examination to be conducted later in the week.

At about 0005h. today, the police say that Anton Johnson, 22 years, of Independence Boulevard, Albouystown, was in front of his home when shots were discharged at him by a man in a motor vehicle that drove by.

Cops nab alleged Herstelling hitman

Guyana Goldfields celebrates first gold pour

Guyana Goldfields Inc (GGI) yesterday celebrated its first gold pour with a grand opening ceremony in the Cuyuni that saw a pledge of a 20 to 30-year relationship with the country and President David Granger used the occasion to stress the importance of the industry to the economy while at the same time warning of improvements that were needed.
