GDF continuing route marches

The Guyana Defence Force today continued its planned series of route marches as part of its training preparations for its upcoming Force Exercise, a release from theGDF said today.

T&HD vessels are in disrepair because they haven’t been maintained

Dear Editor,   Having read in our local newspapers recently about the deplorable state of the Transport & Harbours Department vessels, the dry docking plans, government’s plan to charter a vessel to ply the North West District Service and build two vessels in India, I wish to make the following comments and suggestions: In relation to the state of the vessels, while admittedly some of these vessels are very old, having been constructed more than sixty years ago in the United Kingdom, the reason for the current state of disrepair has to be as a result of the lack of routine ship husbandry and scheduled dry docking in accordance with well-established principles and practices.

Workplace inspections will be continuous

Minister in the Ministry of Social Protection Simona Broomes has told the Stabroek Business that she expects to meet with both the Private Sector Commission (PSC) and the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) “as early as possible in October” to deal with matters pertaining to her ongoing interface with workplaces as regards employer/employee relations.
