Bus driver shot during robbery at Eccles

At about 1145h. today, the police say that two men, one of whom was armed with a firearm, held up Feroze Ghanni, 48 years, of Ruby, EBE, and who was the driver of a mini-bus, at the Flour Mill Access Road, Eccles, EBD, along with the conductor Rafael Ghanni, 27 years, and passenger Dhanmattie Ramana, 46 years, of New Road, Essequibo Coast.

Dear Editor, Like so many Guyanese at home and abroad, I have been paying close attention to and blogging on the outrageous decision to hike the pay for coalition government officials and MPs between 20% and 50% for two reasons: 1) the timing of the decision after just over four months in office, and 2) the coalition’s failure to honour its own campaign promise of 20% increases for public servants.
