GTT extends mobile money service to Digicel customers

Effective October 30, customers of Digicel can register free of cost to access the services of Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company Limited (GTT)’s mobile money.

According to a GTT press release, the mobile money service allows registered customers the ability to make deposits into their phones; pay bills (and buy prepaid GPL tokens); send money to anyone, anywhere in Guyana; cash out funds from their phones; shop at approved merchants with just their phone, at any time.

Digicel customers can use mobile money on android and Blackberry smartphones via the money mobile app. The mobile money app can be downloaded from the playstore for all android phones or by visiting the MMG website: mmg.co.gy/app. However, GTT customers can access MMG via the App or by dialing *123#.

Top up credit purchase by the network is still not available, the release said. All mobile customers have the option to sign up online or at any of the company’s agents and offices.

“Only last month,” GTT’s Director Eshwar Thakurdin said, “all GTT bill payments are now instantly updated and in a few days, Courts (Unicomer) Guyana will be joining the list of bills you can pay with mobile money.”
