Sophia duo injured in blaze still in hospital

Two persons are still recovering in the Burn Care Unit at the Georgetown Public Hospital after the Sophia house they were in was on Saturday set on fire.

The fire claimed the life of 68-year-old Clifford Sampson of Lot 6036 ‘C’ Field, Sophia while his stepdaughter Towobola Abrams, 38, also of Lot 6036 ‘C’ Field Sophia and her visiting boyfriend Shawn White are still hospitalized recovering from their injuries.

When Stabroek News spoke with Abrams’ sister yesterday, Annie Barry, she said the injured are both recovering slowly.

She said that Abrams was burnt to her entire right side while White was burnt from his neck to waist.

The Sophia home was reportedly set on fire early Saturday morning by a jilted lover hours after his plea for reconciliation was rejected.
