Mahaicony girl still critical following accident

Nine-year-old Kelly Ann Archer remains unresponsive in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital’s (GPH) Intensive Care Unit (ICU), two days after she was struck down by minibus on her way home from school.

When contacted yesterday afternoon, Archer’s cousin Ptolemy Blackman explained that Archer, a pupil of Novar Primary School, Mahaicony sustained injuries to the entire left side of her body. He said she had injuries to her foot, arm, jaw and head. He further noted that the left side of the girl’s face is badly swollen.

When asked about the results of a CT Scan and x-ray, Blackman said relatives are yet to see a doctor to ascertain that information.

Blackman told Stabroek News that the grade four pupil was hit by a car which was allegedly speeding, just as she disembarked a minibus sometime after 3 pm on Friday and was walking to her Fellowship, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara home.

Archer was rushed to the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital by public-spirited persons, after which she was transferred to Georgetown.
