Bus conductor gets bail on cannabis charge

A bus conductor was admitted to $50,000 bail yesterday after he denied a possession of cannabis charge.

Randy Norton, 39, of Austin Street, Campbellville, is accused of having 14 grammes of cannabis in his possession at the Stabroek Market Square.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge when he was arraigned at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court 1.

Attorney Robert Daniels pleaded with the court to grant his client reasonable bail, while stating that he is a father of six with another on the way and is also the sole breadwinner of his home.

Daniels’s application for bail was granted and the matter will be called again on February 19.
