Jury empanelled for Plastic City murder trial

A jury was on Friday empanelled before Justice James Bovell-Drakes for the commencement of the trial of Michael Powley, who is accused of killing Vishnauth Narine called, “Buddy.”

Powley is alleged to have murdered the 26-year-old on June 8, 2012 at Plastic City.

The trial is set to commence on Wednesday.

Narine, formerly of Plastic City, Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara was stabbed to his chest. He was subsequently pronounced dead on arrival at the West Demerara Regional Hospital.

Powley is represented by attorney Basil Williams, while the state is represented by prosecutors Narissa Leander and Natasha Backer.
