Police say death of Parika lock-ups man due to epilepsy

The police say that a post-mortem examination (PME) was today conducted by Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh on the body of Zaharudeen Rozan of Cornelia Ida, WCD.

The cause of death was given as blunt trauma to the head, brain haemorrhage, and hyperextension which, as explained by the Pathologist, were consistent with an epileptic seizure. There were also bite marks on his tongue.

Following the PME, the cause of death was explained by Dr. Nehaul Singh to the Lawyer retained by relatives.

Rozan had died on February 25, 2015, while in police custody.

His family has questioned the circumstances under which he died.
