Autopsy delayed for Bajan man found dead in hotel

-as cops seek to contact relatives

Police are making attempts to contact the relatives of Colin Maughan, the Barbadian man who was found dead in a West Ruimveldt hotel last week, in order for a post-mortem examination of his remains to be conducted.

A senior police official told Stabroek News on Friday that there was nothing to suggest that Maughan might have been murdered as there were no marks of violence on the body when he was found naked in his room.

However, according to the official, the autopsy has been delayed because no relative has come forward to identify the man’s remains.

Maughan, said to be middle-aged, had checked in with a female at the Hicksville Hotel, located at Lot 79 West Ruimveldt, and died some time after 6.30 pm. A resident, who lives nearby, had told Stabroek News that it seemed the man suffered a heart attack.

Investigations are ongoing.
