Bus conductor fined for abuse, assault on female rival

A minibus conductor was fined on Thursday after he admitted to assaulting and abusing a female rival.

Sherwin Holmes, 27, who is a conductor on a Route 45 minibus, pleaded “guilty with explanation” to the charges at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court 11.

The court heard that on March 11, 2015, on Thomas Street, Holmes assaulted and used abusive language towards Roxanne Bell, a conductress who operates along the same bus route.

When Magistrate Annette Singh asked Holmes, to give his explanation, he said, “I am sorry.” Magistrate Singh fined Holmes $10,000 for the assault, with an alternative of one month imprisonment if it is not paid in a week, and $5,000 for abusive language, also with the alternative of one month imprisonment if it is not paid in a week.
