Letter Kenny man gets three-year sentence for cocaine possession

A Letter Kenny man was last week Monday sentenced to three years in jail after he admitted to having a gramme of cocaine in his possession.

Lionel Louison, also known as “Krish Boodhoo,” 39, of Lot 31 Letter Kenny, Corentyne, Berbice accepted the charge of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking when he appeared before Magistrate Charlyn Artiga.

According to the charge, on March 14th, 2015, at Letter Kenny Village, Louison had the drug in his possession.

He was also charged with having a half of a gramme of cannabis in his possession on the same day.

According to police prosecutor Sergeant Althea Solomon, lawmen, responding to a report of break and enter and larceny, searched Louison’s home for the missing items. The search, however, uncovered the illegal substances, which were found on a ledge inside of a room. The man had identified the substances to be his property, Solomon added.

Louison initially pleaded not guilty to both charges but afterward changed his pleas to guilty. In addition to the jail sentence for cocaine possession, Louison was fined $6,000 for the possession of cannabis.
