A New Amsterdam man is currently on trial in the Berbice High Court for the sexual penetration of a six-year-old girl.
Harold Naurayan, 41, of Coopers Lane, New Amsterdam, allegedly committed the offence between February 1, 2013 and April 27, 2013. He pleaded not guilty after the indictment was read to him before trial Judge Justice Brassington Reynolds on Thursday.
Naurayan is being represented by attorney Raymond Ali, while the state is being represented by Judith Gildharie-Mursalin. It was indicated to the court by Gildharie-Mursalin that the case is expected to last four working days.
The trial was adjourned on Thursday and is scheduled to commence this morning at 9:30 AM.
