Boy hit on West Dem road now on life support

Six-year-old Adon George, who was struck down by a speeding car while crossing the West Bank Demerara Public Road with his mother on Wednesday, has been placed on life support, his grandfather Dariel Kramer said yesterday.

George is bleeding in his brain, Kramer told Stabroek News.

George, who was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital after the accident, has been in critical condition since Wednesday.

A source at the hospital had indicated that his prognosis was not clear, while noting that the trauma of the accident had caused severe bleeding in the middle regions of the brain, which is also swollen.

The driver of the car, who rendered assistance to transport the child to the city hospital, has been arrested.
