APNU+AFC coalition provides opportunity for change – Rashleigh Jackson

Former foreign minister in the PNC administration Rashleigh Jackson has endorsed the APNU+AFC coalition, which he said offers “a good chance of beginning the process of healing and producing national unity.”

In a statement to the press, Jackson said that “for too long our society has been ridden by all kinds of fault lines,” citing the most egregious being that of race.

He said that “over the last two decades we have seen deterioration in our society in several fields.”

He said that over the years, there have been attempts at national unity and reconciliation, adding; “I believe that, now that we have this coalition of APNU and AFC… we have a chance, and I think it’s a good chance of beginning the process of healing and producing national unity.”

The former minister said he thinks “it is time for a number of things.”

He said, “It is time for us to be able to look to a future where all can benefit. It is time to live in a society where people feel safe and do not live under the shadow of fear. It is time for an end to pervasive corruption and nepotism.

It is time for the restoration of faith in our institutions of governance for example in the police and judiciary. It is time to rekindle hope especially among the young. And it is time for us to reach back and capture the spirit of patriotism which once prevailed in our land.

“In short, it is time for change. It is time for a meaningful change and this change can come through the way in which we exercise our franchise come May 11th.”

According to Jackson, APNU +AFC “provides us with that opportunity for change.”

He said it is an opportunity which we must seize and grasp.

He said that these opportunities come rare in a lifetime, “and I plead with everyone at home and in the diaspora to work for the victory at the polls by the coalition APNU and AFC.”
