Boy hit on West Dem road regains consciousness

Adon George, the six-year-old boy who was struck down by a speeding car while crossing the West Bank Demerara Public Road with his mother on April 1st, has regained consciousness.

George, who was placed on life support after sustaining severe head injuries in the accident, is now in the Children’s Ward of the Georgetown Public Hospital.

His grandfather, Dariel Kramer, told Stabroek News that George was responding slowly to touch and sounds.

“His mother is by his side every day… it is very painful to see him in that condition but we are thankful that he is responding to us,” Kramer said.

George was admitted to the hospital with intense bleeding in the middle regions of the brain. Kramer said the doctors told them that it would take a time for him to react normally to certain stimuli.
