Farmer gets bail on theft charges

A farmer was placed on bail yesterday after he denied stealing from his brother and another man.

Kwame Ogle, 37, of Lot 5 Friendship, East Bank Demerara, pleaded not guilty yesterday at the Providence Magistrate’s Court.

Ogle is accused of breaking and entering the house of his brother, Andrew Ogle, on March 7, 2015, at Friendship, and stealing a quantity of items worth $325,000.

Additionally, he is accused of stealing five bird cages, valued at $60,000, from Emmanuel Subryan between April 20th and April 23rd, 2015.

Ogle’s attorney explained that his client could not stand properly after being severely beaten by Subryan and he pleaded for reasonable bail so the man could seek medical attention and press charges.

Magistrate Leron Daly placed Ogle on $80,000 bail for both charges and set May 19th as his next court date.
