A city court heard that between March 12th and 24th, Ramanand Persaud, with intent to defraud, conspired with persons to forge the Guyanese passport.

Persaud, 27, was represented by attorney Peter Hugh, who asked the presiding magistrate to consider a fine for his client rather than a custodial sentence, since the man made no attempt to waste the court’s time.

Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry subsequently fined Persaud $100,000 with an alternative of six months in jail if he is unable to pay.
