James said Barker appeared before Magistrate Clive Nurse in the Wales Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, where he was read the murder charge. He was remanded to prison until June 22nd.

Donessa Barker was staying at the Lot 21 Bagotville home of a friend, Shaneza Clarke, during the month before her death on Thursday, April 30th. She was resting in a bedroom at the residence when she was allegedly attacked by her husband.

Clarke had said that she was alerted by the woman’s screams, which prompted her to run to the scene just in time to observe Allan Barker allegedly jumping out of a window.

Before the attack, the man had been working in the interior and he had communicated to his wife that he was convinced that she was being unfaithful to him. On the day before the stabbing, the man had gone to the Bagotville home and cut the power before attempting to break in. However, his efforts were thwarted by neighbours. As a result, Donessa Barker went to report the attack on the following morning, only to be murdered hours later.
