dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hos-pital.

According to information received, Kirton was headed east along the public road when he turned across the road and collided with the minibus. He was crossing to his house, which is located opposite the Lusignan Market tarmac.

The driver of the minibus is in police custody assisting with the investigations.

Kirton’s daughter Andrea Kirton told Stabroek News yesterday that her father sustained severe head and chest injuries. She stated that around 19:45 hrs on Tuesday she was inside their house with her brother and mother when they heard the impact.

“When we ran out on the verandah we saw it was my father’s motorbike and he was lying on the road,” she said, adding that her brother ran out to help him while she stayed inside the house to comfort her mother.

She said a taxi driver volunteered to carry her father to the hospital but “it was too late.”

Kirton’s 16-year-old son had suffered a similar fate in 2004; he too died in a motorcycle accident.
