The Surinamese woman who was nabbed at the Ogle Airport with cocaine hidden in her vagina was one of two women charged with drug trafficking in the city yesterday.

Damaris Chaslie, 22, pleaded not guilty to the charge that on May 17th, at the Ogle International Airport, she had in her possession 556 grammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Police say that Chaslie, who was booked on a flight for Barbados, was detained after a search unearthed a parcel of cocaine in a condom concealed in her vagina.

It was further related that the woman was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital after she told the arresting officers that she had also ingested cocaine pellets. Chalise had reportedly ingested a total of 42 cocaine-filled pellets.

The woman, who has no relatives in the country, was remanded to prison.

Meanwhile, Zainab Mohammed, the woman who was nabbed on Thursday with cocaine strapped to her body, was also charged yesterday.

Mohammed was reportedly arrested at the airport after she was discovered with 1.5 kilogrammes of cocaine strapped to her body.

The woman, a housewife and mother of four, pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled against her. Like Chaslie, she was an outgoing passenger on a LIAT flight destined for Barbados.

Magistrate Fabayo Azore remanded Mohammed to prison and ordered that she along with Chaslie return to court on May 25.
