Demerara Rotary Club hosts luncheon for Byer’s Home residents

On May 25, the residents of Byer’s Home were treated to a luncheon compliments of the Rotary Club of Demerara as a part of its care and support programme for the elderly.

According to a press release from the Rotary club, the luncheon was the second of two outreaches to the home scheduled during the club’s 2014/2015 year. The first outreach occurred in the month of December 2014 during which personal care hampers were distributed to the residents as a part of the Christmas cheer.

Currently, the home has a member of the “century club” among its thirteen residents, Viola Shaw who celebrated her 102nd birth anniversary on April 17, 2015. The Club’s president, Gillian Mohabeer extended her gratitude to her fellow Rotarians for their support and the administration of the home for permitting the opportunity to serve.
