Accused arsonist faces trial for death of Port Kaituma woman

A jury was yesterday empanelled for the trial of Kiskino Williams, who is accused of killing Joy Singh in a fire in 2006.

Williams is alleged to have murdered Singh on October 11, 2006 at 8 Mile Backdam, Port Kaituma. He was charged with both murder and arson.

It is alleged that Williams set Singh’s house on fire with Singh and other relatives inside. However, while her relatives suffered severe injuries, Singh perished in the flames.

The trial is being presided over by Justice Navindra Singh, while the state’s case is being presented by Judith Gildharie-Mursalin. Williams is being defended by attorney Debra Kumar.
