Armed robbery accused placed on $75,000 bail

A man was placed on bail on Friday when he appeared in court on a charge of robbery under arms.

Kevin Cupidore found himself in the prisoner’s dock of the Georgetown Magistrates’ court 2 where he pleaded not guilty.

It is alleged that while being armed with a gun on June 2,

at East Ruimveldt, Cupidore robbed Michael Jordan of his motorcycle valued at $420,000, a Blu cellular phone valued at $40,000, a wallet valued at $7,000, and $6,000.

Cupidore’s attorney, Paul Fung-A-Fat told the court that his 20-year-old client who lives in East Ruimveldt was at home when the incident took place. He also stated that the description was “a man with a teardrop on he face and a red cap,” which does not match his client’s description.

Fung-A-Fat pointed out that the victim was at court and was willing to assist in proving his client’s innocence. Upon stepping up to the court, Jordan explained that he did not recognize Cupidore by his face, but by his voice.

The prosecution explained that none of the items were recovered and objected to bail given the seriousness of the matter.

Cupidore was placed on $75,000 bail by Magistrate Ann McLennan. His next court date is June 15, and he is required to report to the East La Penitence Police Station every Friday at 8 am.
