Nagamootoo was sworn-in after President David Granger departed for the United States. Nagamootoo will be performing the duties that fall under the purview of the President until Granger returns to Guyana.

Granger is said to be in the United States to attend a victory parade and rally to be held tomorrow in Brooklyn, New York, in honour of the victorious APNU+AFC campaign at last month’s national elections.
