NCN editors dismissed following probe

Two editors attached to the National Communications Network (NCN) were fired yesterday following an investigation into a “financial irregularity”, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Molly Hassan confirmed last evening.

Senior News Editor Edward Layne and News Editor Adele Rampersaud according to Hassan were the subjects of an investigation which began several weeks ago.

Hassan declined to provide details on the irregularity but said following the investigation management took a decision to terminate the services of the duo with immediate effect.

Sources within NCN said that the irregularity was picked up by auditors just before last month’s general and regional elections and it was then that the probe started.

This newspaper was unable to make contact with Layne and Rampersaud for a comment.
