Puruni cook charged with setting fire to man’s house

A woman who works as a cook in the interior was yesterday released on $125,000 bail after she was charged with arson in a Georgetown Court.

Naomi Goodrich, 23, of 928 ‘B’ Field, Sophia pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The charge, which was read by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court 1, stated that on June 16, in the Puruni River Backdam, Goodrich set fire to the house of Collis McGregor with intent to injure, maim or disfigure him.

Goodrich was released on bail while she was ordered to make her next court appearance at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court on July 3.
