Minister of Health, Dr George Norton observed several shortcomings at the Port Mourant Hospital during his visit to Region Six to assess its functional capacity.
According to a press release from GINA, among the areas of concern noted by the Minister was an entire unused upper flat of the hospital which housed a new operating theatre and a surgical ward which “was never utilised since its construction some years ago.”
This facility, Norton said, “is underutilised and could have addressed the problems such as inadequate housing for nurses, along with a resting area for maids.” Complaints were also received by the Minister regarding plumbing issues at the facility. In addition, the
